Stone Troughs

REAL!Tufa Troughs...

A new and substantial item that we have added this year is the REAL!Tufa trough —hand-carved from lovely B.C. tufa with incredible leaf prints in many of the pieces.

My son, Dan, who is a stone mason, is in charge of this project and his creations are beyond imagination. He makes strong use of natural lines and texture rendering each block "one-of-a-kind". The cream/tan surface gradually changes to a weathered and earthy buff, which is neutral enough to blend in anywhere.

These troughs are lighter weight than traditional sandstone and are very durable. The tufa is porous and soft enough that you can also drill and plant the trough itself! Be sure to check out our website for individual troughs and prices.

Traditional Stone Troughs

We continue to offer unique hand-chiseled stone troughs carved by both Harvey and Dan Wrightman. The troughs are displayed at the nursery are of varying size, shape and colour. However if you would like a trough that is not displayed either here on the web or at our nursery, a custom order trough can be carved to your liking.

There are many options to consider when ordering a trough, including:

  1. Size- they can be as small or as large as you want.

  2. Shape- varies from the classic rectangular to the unique “titanic” trough.

  3. Chisel pattern- ranges from the prominent Sunburst pattern to the rugged, rough chisel pattern.

  4. Stone type- Either the gray Indiana Limestone
    or the English Red Sandstone.

  5. Corners- Square and pointed or softly rounded.

Shipping Troughs

Since each trough’s weight varies considerably, please inquire for shipping and handling charges. The price also depends on the distance the trough is shipped from our nursery. To avoid the shipping, you are welcome to visit our nursery, and pick up the trough.

Prices do not include GST for Canadian orders.
